Steve,
I hope that you or one of the Pedro-ites has a copy of an old cartoon of a helicopter
pilot sweating bullets, with a caption explaining that helicopter pilots are
different than other pilots...something to the effect that they know that if
something bad isn't happening it will soon...if so, please send me a
copy...thank you, John
If anyone has a copy, please send
it to John @

Bien Hoa Eagles,
First of all, I hope this note finds you all doing
fine and having enjoyed a great summer!
I had a telephone conversation yesterday evening with
Sidney Sherman and here is the latest information on the movie about Pitts and the
Mud Soldiers:
The main portion of writing the script has taken place
and now they, Sidney, Todd Robinson, the Director, Shekhar Kapur, and the people at
the studio are busy putting together the budget for the movie. They have met
with or are meeting with each of the special groups, i.e., the special effects
group, the sound group, filming group, Risk Management and so on-- until all
aspects of the movie have been covered and a dollar cost figure is arrived at.
They expect to get the initial budget to the studio’s management within two
weeks.
The budget process continues on until the studio’s top
management signs off.
Once the basic budget is agreed upon, the studio will
begin the casting of actors.
How long is all this going to take and when will they
start shooting the movie? I am given the best guess of maybe next April or May
2005. Could start in August ---.
Three countries are being looked at where they
will film the movie; Canada for the
present day shooting; USA for shots at the Pentagon, Wright Patterson AFB,
etc,., and Thailand for all the war and jungle shots The studio will be
negotiating with Kaman for the use of their three HH43F models.
From all accounts this will be a high dollar movie.
How high? No one will say because it’s a business and they do not publicly
announce the exact dollar amount. I’m told that the news media really likes to
push the figure and that most of the time the dollar amount is highly
exaggerated. When the movie is completed we will be privy to certain costs
because of our contract.
