HH-43B crews from DET6 - 41ARRWg Kadena AB, Okinawa began an extensive night over water search after a U.S. Navy Pilot bailed out 8 miles from the base. The aircraft was located in approximately six feet of water by PEDRO 01 and the pilot spotted and picked up on a near by island.

An F-106 Pilot who ejected when the engine caught fire, was picked up from a field soon afterward by a HUSKIE crew from DET16 – CARRC at McConnell AFB, KN. The survivor sustained only minor scratches and bruises. The HH-43B crew was:

A boy trapped on a sand island in the flooded Mojave River was rescued by an HH-43B crew from DET12 WARRC George AFB, CA. Winds were gusting to 15 knots and a light rain was falling as the HUSKIE landed on the island to make the pick up.

A Republic of Korea Air Force pilot who parachuted from his crippled F-86 Sabre was picked from a rice paddy a few minutes later by an HH-43B crew from DET5 – 41ARRWg at Suwon AB, Korea.

C. Labianco from a New Mexico monastery was rescued by an HH-43B crew after he was injured and trapped over night in a mountain ravine. The survivor was located at dusk on the 7,600 foot level by the HUSKIE crew from DET3 WARRC Kirkland AFB, NM. (FE) SSGt Herbert H. Gantry was lowered to assist Monk and then both were hoisted aboard. On the return trip, First Aid was administered by A1C Robert Albin.
