TAKHLI RTAFB THAILAND

TDY personnel and aircraft (60-0251 & 60-0252) from Det 4, 36ARS, Osan AB, ROK were sent to Takhli in Aug 1964. On 8 AUG 1964 personnel and aircraft (59-1549 & 60-0258) from Det4, WARC Paine Fld, WA arrived at Bien Hoa AB, RVN, were redesignated DET.Prov.1 PARC, 1 SEP 1964 and deployed to Takhli RTAFB on 10 NOV 1964. Throughout early 1965, Detachments from EARC provided Officers and Enlisted personnel on a 120 day TDY rotation to Takhli. The unit was redesignated Det2 38ARS on 1 July 1965.

Initially the Detachment was without facilities and operated from various expeditionary locations until a permanent site between the Control Tower and Fire Department was constructed in 1966.

The following HH-43s operated with DET2 38ARRS until it was deactivated on 15 NOV 1970.

1966: 59-1549, 60-0258, 60-0279 60-0278 TDY from Det3 38ARRS 29 JUN - 4 AUG 1966 and again from 22 SEP-15 OCT 1966.

1967: 59-1549, 60-0258

60-0279* reassigned to DET12, 38ARRS NhaTrang AB, RVN on 2 MAY 1967.

59-1574 was assigned as a replacement after arriving from CONUS via Korat RTAFB on 28 DEC 1967.

1968: 59-1549, 59-1574, 60-0258* reassigned to DET3 38ARRS Ubon RTAFB on 4 JAN 1968

1969: 59-1549, 59-1574

1970:

59-1549* reassigned to DET9 38ARRS Pleiku AB, RVN on 28 OCT 1970. 59-1574** to Korat RTAFB on 31 OCT 1970 for disassembly and trans-shipment to Eglin AFB, FL on 6 NOV 1970

In response to the Easter Invasion of South Viet Nam in April 1972, TAKHLI RTAFB was reopened. TDY personnel and aircraft (59-1541 & 60-0254) from DET8, 43ARRS, Bergstrom AFB, Texas were deployed on 06 MAY 1972 as part of Operation “CONSTANT GUARD III”. After 120 days, personnel were replaced, returned to Bergstrom AFB, leaving their aircraft in place. The unit was designated DET10 40ARRS 41ARRW later in the year and remained until deactivated in JUL 1974.

60-0258 delivered from UBON RTAFB on 13 MAR 1973

59-1541* flown to NKP on 28 MAR 1973, disassembled, put in storage until salvaged.

60-0254* flown to NKP 02 APR 1973, disassembled, put into storage until salvaged.

1974: 60-0258 & 62-5978

60-0258 Transported to CLARK AB, ROP 13 JUL 1974 for storage.

62-5978 Transported to CLARK AB, ROP 18 JUL 1974 for Storage.
