PEDRO’S
BOOK SHELF

Although not a PEDRO story, the “Rescue of Boxer 22” tells the story of the largest successful rescue of the Viet Nam War.
For three days in December 1969, most of the air war in North Viet Nam came to a standstill as aircraft were diverted for a maximum effort supporting this rescue.
These two downed Airmen had parachuted into one of the most dangerous areas on the Ho Chi Minh Trail, MuGia Pass. Not only was the enemy out to capture these American Air Pirates, but in the process, ambush and shoot down as many other aircraft as possible. The resulting “GUNFIGHT” seriously damaged 10 Rescue Helicopters, five A-1 Skyraiders and many other supporting aircraft received considerable battle damage.
During the ensuing 3 days, several Air Rescuemen were wounded and one killed. Keeping faith with their motto “That Others May Live”, it quickly changed to “All for One”.
I found this to be a really good read and highly recommend it.
